JoikuSpot Light 2.5
JoikuSpot Light is a free mobile application that can be installed directly onto a 3G connection-enabled S60 3rd Edition device such as the Nokia N95 multimedia computer. Your 3G operator connection then becomes your own local WLAN hot spot, wherever you are. This can include maintaining a connection in a moving train or car.
When JoikuSpot Light is switched on, laptops and Apple iPod touch devices can establish instant and fast wireless Internet connections. JoikuSpot Light acts as an Internet gateway to external WLAN devices. JoikuSpot Light supports Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), including 128-bit key encryption. It has an adjustable battery threshold for shutdown when the battery level becomes too low. The application lets you set a default access point, and it supports Secure Shell (SSH) tunnels that use PuTTY tunneling software. It supports both HTTP and HTTP over Secure Sockets Layer (HTTPS) protocols.
JoikuSpot allows your S60 device to act much like a wireless router, letting multiple local devices share in the Internet connection that it provides. Well, perhaps not all local WLAN-enabled devices: The S60 device user with JoikuSpot Light can designate which local devices will be granted access. The person in the seat next to you on the train does not get to use your connection unless you approve of it. JoikuSpot Light’s connection control also shows the status of all connections.
